Almost an Island 2026

Our first event of the year, the return of the annual "Almost an Island" exhibition, which has showcased the Otago Peninsula and its artists for over 20 years.

Open to members of the society (please contact us if you'd like to join).

Entries close Friday 6th March, 7pm

Receiving day Sunday 22nd March, between 1-3pm

Exhibition Opening

Our Annual AGM

2026 AGM- May 3rd

Our annual AGM meeting - open to all, but you must be a financial member of OpenArts Inc to vote on matters.

This meeting involves the discussion of fees, nomination and voting on committee members and any matters that need to be part of an AGM according to our constitution. We would love for you to join the discussion and help us voted on these matters.

Join us for an enjoyable afternoon with fellow members and share your thoughts and feelings on our direction as a group, followed by nibbles.

If you are interested in joining the committee or taking on an organisational role in our society please get in touch prior to the AGM.

 

"Now That's Different"

Our annual September Exhibition is "Now That's Different". Each year we choose a different theme to inspire our members. Artists are encouraged to try "something different" from the art they would ordinarily produce- this might be choosing to produce a piece that fits the theme or using a different medium.

Youth Exhibition 2025

Our first Youth Exhibition will now be taking place in September as part of our "Now That's Different" Exhibition at the MacAndrew Bay Hall. Aiming to encourage young artists with a connection to the Otago Peninsula to showcase their work in an exhibition setting. Artists have the option of making pieces available for purchase.

Our annual social event. Members can take this opportunity to come along and put faces to names, catch up with other artists and meet some new ones!

Christmas Fair

Our art Christmas fair aims to encourage buying local products from local artists. Held in the MacAndrew Bay community hall. 

Opening night Friday Nov 28th from 5-7pm

Saturday 29th Nov 10am-4pm

Sunday Nov 10am-4pm
